ELTI — A house for E. and T.
ELTI is a newly built family house in Edegem, developed as an integrated architectural and interior architectural project. Situated within a residential streetscape, the house occupies a plot between neighbouring buildings.
On the ground floor, bespoke furniture takes on an architectural role. A large volume of cabinetry defines the kitchen while simultaneously organising circulation towards the staircase. Rather than functioning as an isolated piece of furniture, it becomes an integral part of the spatial organisation, establishing boundaries without introducing additional walls.
The cabinetry combines timber with pale, almost white surfaces. The horizontal division between these materials continues throughout the kitchen, connecting the different elements into a coherent composition. Together with the grey flooring, the restrained material palette establishes a subtle interplay between warmth and abstraction.
Through the careful integration of furniture and architecture, the project explores how everyday domestic functions can become instruments for defining and organising space.
