CLAME — Renovation of a row house

In this rowhouse renovation project, we aimed to create a sense of spaciousness and openness. By introducing a new angle in the layout, we created a new dynamic that enhanced the spatiality of the house.A significant focus was placed on the back façade, which features an expansive window spanning the entire width of the house. This large window, with a central sliding door, fosters a strong connection with the garden below and can act as a balcony when opened.A spiral staircase connects the main dining area, which includes the kitchen, to a versatile TV room and playroom for the children located downstairs. This staircase serves as a sculptural element, adding visual interest while offering practical access between levels. A skylight further accentuates the staircase, allowing natural light to cascade down. The curved wall behind the stairs is interrupted by a perforated steel window, providing the adjacent toilet with a glimpse of daylight.
