ABSIII marks the third collaboration between i.s.m.architecten and Absoluut, a Leuven-based advertising agency. Conceived in collaboration with architect Tom Huycke, the project is located on the fifth floor of the former Remy tower in Wijgmaal.
The office is organised as two interconnected entities. A lounge area, adjoining the bar and reception desk, functions as an informal workspace and meeting environment. Adjacent to this lies the main office landscape, composed of a series of differentiated spaces responding to varying modes of work and degrees of concentration.
Within the lobby, the project focuses on the positioning and articulation of a series of freestanding objects. A continuous carpet defines the space as a grounded field, while custom-designed benches in black polished MDF introduce a precise yet lightweight presence. The restrained intervention aims to reinforce the openness of the existing space and its panoramic relation to the adjoining terrace and surrounding landscape.
Throughout the workspaces, the project seeks to maximise spatial continuity. Subtle level differences structure the office without fragmenting it, creating gradients between collective and more focused working environments. Furniture elements were designed specifically for the project, integrating acoustic considerations such as perforated cabinet fronts and absorbent surfaces. The modular desk system allows for multiple configurations over time, enabling the office to adapt to changing modes of collaboration and occupation.
